,M.Ed, LPC, CADC CSAC
Hello, my name is Tom Dworak, Therapist, and I would like to share a bit about me if I may.
A long time ago, I thought that I had everything. I had a beautiful wife, a new infant son, and job security, I felt that I had conquered life.
I was on top of the world. Over 20 (+) years ago, my bad choices and alcohol made my life come to a crashing halt. I thought that I was ten feet tall and bulletproof. My world came crashing down and I thought that I was lost forever. However, a light was burning inside of me telling my inner self that I was not done yet with life.
Through consternation and grief, I persevered. I had to reinvent myself positively. I decided that I wanted to help people like me. So, I went back to school and earned a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis on substance use disorders.
I am licensed in Illinois and Wisconsin as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
I have been in this industry since 2010 and have worked consistently with a variety of clients.
As a behavioral health therapist, I am committed to creating a safe and supportive environment where my clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors with openness and honesty.
My approach is centered on building a collaborative relationship with clients, empowering them to identify their strengths, develop coping mechanisms, and achieve their personal goals.
I believe in utilizing a holistic perspective, considering the impact of various life factors on mental health, and tailoring interventions to each client's unique needs. Psychodynamic therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy are some of the treatments that I employ
My passion lies in supporting individuals through challenging life experiences, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, and personal growth. I strive to provide compassionate, evidence-based care that promotes positive change and empowers clients to live fulfilling lives.
I have worked in various therapeutic communities and have worked with a variety of clientele. Substance use disorders, dual diagnosis.
In conclusion, I want to engage with my clients and give them the best possible therapeutic treatment that I can.
