Degrees and Training
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Washington (LH61283461). I have a
bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science from Western International, and Master’s of Science in
Mental Health Counseling from Walden University in 2013. I completed my graduate school
internship treating court ordered individuals with co-occurring substance addictions and mental
health issues. Also, while in my internship I worked with underserved individuals in the
community. After graduating I worked in community mental health for 6 years. This provided
me with the opportunity to work with a diverse population and diagnoses, while working
closely with their psychiatric provider for medication management.
After leaving community mental health I worked for a year and a half in an all-male, maximum
security state prison before coming to Charlie Health. I also have a military endorsement from
experiencing working and training working with military members, first responders and their
families.
Counseling Philosophy and Approach
At Charlie Health we utilize a variety of evidenced based interventions, not limited to the
following: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Attachment
Theory, Carl Rogers Research Based Principles, and Relational/Psychodynamic Research Based
Principles. I am additionally trained in Equine Assisted Therapy.
Counseling Process
After the initial assessment, goals are identified, as is the course of treatment. Goals and
planning are done collaboratively with a client and/or their family. Therapy is an ongoing
process however, so a client is encouraged to communicate what is helpful and what is not by
making treatment-related suggestions. As far as the duration of therapy that depends on the
individual, their diagnoses, and ability to use skills learned in treatment, so that symptoms are
either alleviated or significantly reduced.
