My journey as a therapist has been deeply intertwined with a profound belief in the inherent strength and resilience of women. I witness daily the unique challenges faced by women, particularly mothers, as they navigate the complexities of societal expectations, societal pressures, and the demands of motherhood. These pressures often lead to feelings of inadequacy, guilt, and a disconnect from their authentic selves. My work is dedicated to empowering women to reclaim their narratives, dismantle limiting beliefs, and step into a life of authenticity, joy, and fulfillment.
At the heart of my practice lies the transformative power of Narrative Therapy. This approach recognizes that individuals are not defined by their problems, but rather by the stories they tell about themselves. These stories, often shaped by societal norms and internalized expectations, can become limiting and constrain our potential. Narrative Therapy focuses on externalizing these limiting stories, recognizing them as separate entities that do not define the individual's true essence.
For women and mothers, this approach can be particularly liberating. By externalizing the "shoulds" and "oughts" imposed by societal expectations – the "Supermom" narrative, the pressure to be perfect, the guilt associated with prioritizing self-care – we can begin to disentangle ourselves from these limiting beliefs. We can start to question the validity of these external voices and reclaim our own inner authority.
In my practice, I work collaboratively with women to identify and challenge these limiting stories. We explore alternative narratives that reflect their true values, desires, and aspirations. We delve into their unique strengths, their resilience, and their capacity for joy.
