Work Experience:
My work experience began in 2002 as a community support specialist. During this time, I worked with adults with severe mental illness. My role was to assist clients, as they navigated living independently, to learn of the resources in the community available to them. Advocating for clients in areas of medical issues and filing for disability was an important aspect of the job.
In 2006, I began working towards my hours to become a fully licensed professional counselor. During this time, I worked with a combination of elderly adults, adults, teens, children, families and marriage counseling.
After becoming fully licensed, I continued working with all age groups, adding on residential facilities, foster children, 7 day assessments after clients were hospitalized for suicide attempts and an intensive in-home program for families with at risk behavioral children.
Therapy Philosophy:
After learning about CBT, it reinforced my outlook and belief in helping others. I believe our brain is our most powerful asset. I believe every client I work with deserves respect as they navigate through their life. I meet clients where they are in their journey. As well as providing them with as many tools as possible to help during therapy and after therapy.
