Merle Montalvo
,LCSW
As an LCSW licensed in Mississippi, I have been honored to provide help to others when they have gone through needed or inevitable life change for over 20 years.
My journey to that ability began when I experienced a midlife transition and went back to school. I was able to work as a rural social worker before going to graduate school.
Everywhere that I have worked : inpatient psychiatry, outpatient counseling, partial hospitalization, geriatric health and mental health, home health, and hospice; has provided me with the opportunity and privilege to learn from my supervisors, co-workers and those I served.
Cognitive behavioral therapy is the mainstay of my practice. By changing our thoughts, behaviors, emotions, and physical sensations we can greatly improve our ability to recover and grow through our life situations.
In addition, I use transactional analysis, holistic, humanistic, and insight-oriented perspectives when they are the best tools for the work. Our collaboration focused on your needs will determine what we do together.

Rating: [4 out of 5 stars!]
"Was skeptical how much online would help, but it worked best for my schedule. Depending on how honest and transparent you are, along with your willingness to listen and try new thought processes, you can get a lot out of the program. Worth the investment and the therapist/counselor was a great encourager and offered great insight into why I am the way I was."

"Not having attended therapy before, and not knowing what to expect for an online course, didn't know what to expect. I realized that most of what I get will be determined by my willingness to be honest with myself and the system. It has been helpful allowing me to pace myself through the steps while the communication from my assigned LCSW has been great and quick."
