I began my career by working for over ten years in veterinary medicine. I then decided to merge my two passions of helping people and interest in animals by obtaining a Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling, with a specialty in animal assisted therapy. Along with Animal assisted therapy, I have experience working with patients with behavioral needs, through integration in the school setting as well as outpatient I have experience working in group home settings, the alternative schools in the area, and traditional schools previously.
As someone with experience with in person therapy approaches and in the various settings, I have the specialty with animal assisted therapy. This specialty has allowed me to be flexible with my approaches as well as being able to think outside of the box to tailor my therapy modalities to the different clients. I have experience with children, all the way to elderly clients, and those with several life challenges. With being involved in the group homes I have also had to learn different strategies to communicate with clients.
