Katelyn Kotkosky
,LPC
Hello!
My name is Katelyn and I am excited to work together. It takes a lot of courage and strength to ask for advice; especially when it is the last thing you want to do. Let me tell you though personal experience this too shall pass! You have it within you to improve your life. It is okay to say you need help. I specialize in finding your strengths and capitalizing on them. Therapy should not be feared, it should be celebrated. All you have to do is get your feet wet. I'll help with diving in.
I currently possess my MS in Counseling as well as my BS in Psychology and Sociology; I pursued these degrees as my passion is mentoring and assisting people with various mental health struggles. I enjoy assisting others with finding new ways of overcoming every day challenges and become more independent/active members of their society. Learning how to accommodate each one of their needs is extremely important to me.
My qualifications are based on my education and work experience. By working at Productive Living Systems, a company that assists individuals diagnosed with severe psychiatric, developmental, and behavioral disorders living in residential settings; I learned to communicate and assist members of our community whom suffer from mental or physical disabilities live successful lives. Having one on one interaction with my clients has allowed me to have experience in how to respond and act accordingly in crisis situations. I also worked as a Mental Health Program Coordinator at Friendship Place, a mental health walk in center. Within this position I was able to meet and work with a wide variety of individuals each and every day. I learned your first impression of others is almost always incorrect, and keeping an open mind allows you to get to know someone for who they really are. After graduating from college I advanced by career and took a position with Community Care as a Lead Case Manager. In this position I was responsible for assessment, member-centered care plan development, ongoing care co-ordination, quality assurance and monitoring of services to program members, who may be frail elders and/or individuals who have intellectual and/or physical disabilities. I further trained new case managers upon hire. I also was an intern at CHAPS academy. As an intern I strove to meet the mission of CHAPS, which includes serving adults, adolescents, children and families who are struggling with emotional and behavioral difficulties though the use of creative counseling and equine-assisted mental health activities. My experience included
co-facilitation within individual and family therapy sessions, as well as, day treatment program-focusing on adolescents with severe and persistent mental illness. After completing my masters degree in counseling I was hired on as a clinical therapist at the county level. This position allowed me to further implement my skills as a therapist. Within this position I not only took on the role of a case manager, but also a therapist. I successfully obtained my LPC and have successfully transitioned into a supervisory position. I enjoy providing a second chance to individuals in my care each day. By helping individuals learn new ways of coping and improving their overall outlook on life, I have confidence they will return to society successfully.
Throughout all of my experiences I have gained the knowledge and understanding of how challenging and rewarding it can be working with vulnerable populations. I am confident in my ability to assist my clients in bettering themselves as they see fit. I pride myself in the ability to encourage growth, independence and responsibility in each and every one of the individuals I work with.
Thank you

It is nice to be able to participate when time permits for me. I would highly recommend to people curious about online therapy."
