John Michael Nash

As a mental health and addiction therapist, my ultimate goal is to develop with my clients an environment of safety in which trust can grow. I believe that every human has a unique and sacred story, and to tell that story with your whole heart is one of the most critical components of growth and wellness. To have the bravery to tell one’s story requires, at the very least, a sense of psychological and biological safety and the trust that flows from it. I want to communicate hope, value, and change to my clients who are in the midst of an experience of suffering, and will work alongside you work towards your goals.

I have worked in the behavioral and emotional health field since 2015 in a multitude of settings and with various populations. I am trauma-informed and humanistic in my approach, meaning I believe in you and your ability to develop who you want to be in spite of potential pain from the past. I have worked with individuals, groups, and families who are affected by the challenges of mental health and addiction issues. I value empathy, alliance, and motivation as my primary modes of operation when engaging with clients.

I have a bachelors degree in Philosophy and a masters of education Clinical Mental Health Counseling, giving me a unique educational blend that informs my approach and commitment to the value of human life, sometimes leading to an uncommon perspective in treatment theory and practice.
