I have an MSW degree from NYU.
I have been certified by the state of California since 1989 as an LCSW.
My work experience includes, but is not limited to, private practice work for HMOs and EAP, Fostercare, Family Maintenance, Expert Witness in Child Abuse and Neglect cases, Group homes, San Quentin prison where I worked as a groupworker with inmates from Death Row and Special Populations as well as the General Populations, Group work with inmates, Intake worker for inmates, Referral Specialist for inmates that were about to b discharged, Individual and Group work with Veterans, Methadone Maintenance, Dual Diagnosis using the Harm reduction model, Pregnant teens, Pregnant drug-addicted mothers, the homeless population, Family therapy in an institution where they also lived. and helping unemployed clients find work and training as well as other resources.
At the moment my main focus is on helping clients recover from trauma, PTSD, and Complex PTSD with online therapy.
I have been certified in CBT by Albert Ellis, DBT by Marsha Linehan, EMDR by Francine Shapiro, EFT, Existential Therapy, Acceptance, and Commitment Therapy by Udemy, Trauma therapy as well as Individual Clinical Complex PTSD and PTSD therapy by the Arizona Trauma institute and Hypnotherapy by HCH institute.
My focus is a combination of Cognitive behavioral psychodynamic and humanistic and I integrate many approaches, including NLP and Gestalt.
I learned from my practice that most of my clients suffer from Complex PTSD due to a difficult childhood marked by abuse or neglect. This is why I start by exploring their childhood in great detail to assess them for thought distortions, self-esteem issues, attachment issues, schemas, etc. I studied for a year with Albert Ellis in New York City and was certified as a Rational Emotive Therapist by the latter. This approach is now called Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

"Georgina has been great to work with and has shown genuine empathy and compassion where needed, and blunt truth were needed (in a constructive way). I would fully recommend her as a therapist to anyone in need."

"I think the overall structure of this program is very helpful and works well for remote therapy. The provided videos and worksheets allow you to have space for reflections and problem solving while giving you self-guided tools to assist in your understanding of coping and healing. I speak to my assigned therapist once a week for debrief and I find it to be a positive experience so far."
