Dr. Elizabeth Lombardo is a licensed clinical psychologist with a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy and a Ph.D. in Psychology.
She has been honored by giving a prestigious TED-x talk and is frequently interviewed by today’s top media outlets including; The Today Show, Dr. Oz, The Steve Harvey Show, Fox News, CNN, Forbes, Wall Street Journal, Money Magazine, Health, MSNBC, USA Today and National Public Radio.
When I was getting my Ph.D. in psychology, I often found myself wondering “Why don’t we all get this information?” Think about it, in elementary school we learn to read and write, we learn about history and how to add. However, when do we learn how to deal with difficult situations? How can we be happy in relationships, or how to flourish in the ups and downs of life?
To me, that is what therapy is: learning the tools to effectively deal with whatever life throws at you. Once you have them, you can use them for the rest of your life.
My clinical experience has been focused on helping people deal with a variety of issues, including stress, parenting, relationships, weight issues, chronic pain, anger, anxiety and depression.
I do not view psychological distress as a weakness, but rather as a result of not having the right tools to effectively cope. Once you learn the right tools for you and practice them, you cannot help but get better.
When I am not working with individual clients, I like to write. "A Happy You: Your Ultimate Prescription for Happiness" and "Better Than Perfect: 7 Strategies to Crush Your Inner Critic and Create a Life You Love" are two of my books.
