Dr. Eliza Margrove
,PhD
I graduated with a Master of Arts in Psychology in 2005, with a 1st Class Hons degree from the University of Aberdeen. I then moved to Cardiff, Wales, to study Psychology further, graduating in 2009 with a PhD in Psychology. I worked in the Cardiff Medical School with primary care patients who had neurological conditions and comorbid mental health issues. I worked with secondary mental health patients on a study researching depression and the use of ECT treatment for the school of Psychological medicine in Cardiff.
I then moved to England and began to study the use of arts therapy in people under the care of the mental health NHS Trusts. I then went on to study counselling, after having a break to have two children of my own. I became a qualified counsellor registered with the BACP, as well as a Chartered Psychologist registered with the British Psychological Society.
I currently work remotely (telephone/online) with clients for a domestic abuse charity (PARAGON), as well as previously working with a sexual abuse charity (STAR). I also have my own private practice. I previously volunteered with Butterflies Bereavement Counselling charity, and have previously volunteered for the City of Portsmouth College (counselling 16-18 year olds).
I enjoy working in an integrative way with my clients, helping them to gain new emotional coping skills, and different ways of thinking that can ensure personal growth and a sense of peace. As a psychologist I enjoy working to explore cognitive thinking styles (particularly using ACT, CBT), whilst also making use of my counselling background to offer new ways of thinking in a non-paternalistic and person centred way. I am also qualified in Solution Focused Therapy (graduating with a Distinction), and can make use of these specialist techniques with clients who want to work in a time limited way, with future focus.

"The prompts to the inner observation has helped see a methodological record keeping and helped me write it out to view the array of emotions. Then addressing each one. I want to keep it short and invite you to experiment. Eliza is a delight."

"So far I'm really happy with the service. I changed my first counselor as she wasn't really the right person for me but this was really easy to do. My counselor now is great and it's so easy to use the portal and book my sessions. There are also added extras that I hadn't expected like yoga online and meditation. Really pleased that I signed up."
