Dr. Bennie Butler

I have a PhD in psychology and I'm a licensed professional counselor and licensed addiction counselor. I also teach introduction and abnormal psychology for Colorado Community Colleges.

My specialties include addictions, dual diagnosis, trauma, abuse, bipolar, psychosis, anxiety, depression and couples.

My approach is client centered and includes cbt, existential, schema, Act and dbt. I bring theoretical and practical knowledge to the issues presented. I believe that honest engagement that examines the individual holistically is absolutely important and that counseling is two dimensional, and calls for both parties to be equally engages in stated goals.
I am 58 years old, own LoveJoy counseling and married. I too have gone through things in my life which I can pull from and often give me some added insight as well a added empathy. I have lost a daughter, been divorced, lived all over the World and my wife is Philippina. Through out my travels I have come to not see how different we all are, but rather similar, with most of us just seeking to live as abundantly as we can while navigating jobs, love, family and the issues which often present. I 100% believe that change can and does happen.
