I was blessed to spend my entire childhood in a small Tennessee town. However, I knew I wanted more than was available to me there. I earned a scholarship to UCLA & my graduation present was a ticket to L.A. where I lived for 12 years, earning a B.A. in Psychology & working for a residential center for teens.
After marrying 33 yrs ago we settled in Memphis. I then obtained an M.S. in Social Work, adopted a child & went to work for Memphis City Schools while also completing my clinical training & becoming an LCSW in 1997. I worked first as a "front line" clinician & eventually held a variety of supervisory positions over my 30 years there.
During these yrs, I also obtained a Doctorate in Social Work from UT, held a 5 yr state contract providing treatment for incarcerated teens, worked as an Adjunct Professor & served on Advisory Boards for other colleges of social work in the area. I established a private practice based on systems theory & behaviorism & utilize CBT, DBT, & Mindfulness.
