I have an MS in Art Therapy/Psychology and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 20 years of professional experience. I have a wealth of experience working with clients in a variety of settings which include children in special education, clients in hospice care, and ten years as an art therapist and a qualified mental health professional on a psychiatric unit as well as the emergency room at the University of Health/Truman Medical Center. In addition, I have been providing online therapy to clients for the last three years.
I have worked with clients of all ages with a broad spectrum of mental health conditions. Due to working on a psychiatric unit and also having personal experience, I am well versed in the treatment of clients who suffer from severe and chronic mental illness which include schizophrenia, bipolar disorder as well as major depressive disorder and anxiety personality disorders.
As for my therapeutic approaches, I consider myself to be eclectic, gentle, curious, while I encourage clients to lead the way. I see myself as a guide and understand that it is a privilege to help guide each client on their journey to improved wellbeing and wellness. In a nutshell, I would say that I am a client centered therapist and am open to using a variety of different approaches. Some of those approaches include Art Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Existential Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
