Manage Your Bipolar with Online Therapy

While it is common for people to experience mood swings from time to time, bipolar disorder is much more severe. When someone has bipolar disorder (also known as manic depression) their mood shifts from periods of over-excitement and feeling like you're "on fire" (manic episodes) to periods of feeling severely depressed (depressive episodes).

During manic episodes, it's common to have a generally elevated mood, be highly active, experience higher self-esteem and need less sleep. This often alternates with depressive periods where you feel little joy in life, have problems sleeping, gain or lose weight and experience a loss of energy.

While this can be stressful and even debilitating, there is hope. Our therapy for bipolar is based on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which has been shown in research studies to help people with bipolar disorder, often used in conjunction with medication. You see, it is your thoughts that affect your perception of the world, and with bipolar disorder, your brain tends to process information in an inaccurate and distorted way. With the help of your therapist, you will be able to identify and challenge these distorted and negative thought patterns that cause your stress and even harmful behavior. By identifying the situations that trigger your manic and depressive episodes, you will be more aware of when a mood shift is about to happen. And, eventually, you will be able to control your emotions and stress. By discovering new coping and behavioral skills, you will be able to stick to a treatment plan and live a more stable lifestyle, which will reduce the risks of a relapse.

"It has been a good place to get a lot of burden of my shoulders. Being online makes it easier and more accessible for day to day life and the therapists to choose from as well as the content within the program is very well laid out."

"I enjoy using this platform a lot more than others in the past. If you have any issue, at least support replies to you within a 24 hour time frame. If you are reading this and you fall into the low income category or are between jobs, they also have an option to help you so that you can continue your therapy. That is what I really appreciated."

"Very responsive to messages - not left waiting for replies. Supportive, no pressure - can work through things at own pace. Flexibility to focus in what you need at that specific time, not just focused on the worksheets."

"So far so good. Everything I read and researches says that online therapy is as effective as in person therapy. I'm a week in and so far I'm comfortable with my therapist Janice. She has been prompt in answering and has shown caring, concern and kindness, and not just a bunch of "you got this!" stuff. She has given me effective advice and tools to use."

"The online-therapy.com platform is great. I would like to see the prices become cheaper than what they are and have a package where it’s just a video meeting with a therapist once a week. I am not sure of other people but I don’t use the messaging, activity log, journal etc. that is redundant in my eyes, I want to actually talk face to face or video with the therapist.

There is a lot of people out there who cannot afford the prices but actually need and require the help.
